Manage your weight through hypnotherapy

Fed up with being overweight?

In your mind, you already know what you ‘need’ to do, right? Eat healthily, exercise and drink lots of water. You’ve tried every diet there is, but you’re still waiting for the pounds to roll off. Why? Because you need to get the message through to the most powerful part of your mind so that it will help you, not sabotage you. Hypnosis can do exactly that, and more!

According to the Handbook of Clinical Hypnosis, published by the American Psychological Association (1993) "a comparison of the hypnotically treated groups with the control groups strongly indicates that hypnotherapy for weight reduction is effective."

If you look at yourself every day in the mirror and say "oh no, I’m fat" over and over again, your subconscious will absorb that belief and act on it. You will get fat even though you want to be thin. And what about when a "friend" offers you that huge piece of chocolate cake. You say to yourself, "Oh well, I'm fat anyway. I'll start my diet tomorrow." And when you realise that you’ve eaten something you shouldn’t have, you feel more depressed, so you eat even more. And so the vicious cycle goes on!

And hunger isn’t the only reason people eat: habit, stress, boredom, loneliness, reward, comfort … The list is endless.

Dieting and over-exercising don't work in the long run. They put your body into survival mode, and you end up in a running battle with your body. And what happens when you stop? Eventually all the weight comes back, and more!

Weight Management Programme

The Weight Management Programme consists of 4 sessions accompanied  by 5 CDs for use between sessions.  As with all my therapies, you can come along for a free initial consultation before making up your mind, to discuss your needs and how I can help you to achieve your goals.

The Programme addresses a number of areas, including:

  • Emotional eating - Have you ever noticed someone snacking when they are bored, but going for hours without food when they were engrossed in their work or a hobby? Have you ever walked out of a confrontation and headed straight to the snack machine? Sometimes we feel the urge to eat to help us deal with what we are feeling.
  • Habitual eating - Sometimes food becomes part of our daily routine, attached to particular situations or events. Some people might always buy a tub of popcorn when they go to the cinema. Others may feel compelled to snack as they sit down to watch TV in the evening.
  • Social eating - Have you ever eaten something just because "it would be rude to refuse"? Have you ever noticed how hard it is to stay away from the buffet at a party, even if you ate before you went? Social pressure to eat - even when it turns out we are applying that pressure to ourselves - can be hard to resist.
  • Exercise motivation - We all know we should exercise, but knowing that we have to, and actually doing something about it are two very different things. Many of us find all sorts of excuses to avoid going to the gym, even though we have paid to join, and are paying to stay members.
  • Combating cravings - The urge to have ‘just a bite' can catch us at any time, but it can be the start of a slippery slope back into old, unhelpful eating habits.
  • Taking back control - Have you ever asked yourself who has the real power in your relationship with food? Are you really in charge of your eating, or do you sometimes find food taking control of your behaviour?
  • Resolving inner conflicts - We all know that being the wrong weight can be unhealthy for us. We all know that we would be fitter, healthier and happier if we took more care of what we ate and exercised more. So why do we find it hard to stick to the new ways of thinking and acting once we start?
